Latvia

When the Dubnov Jewish School in Riga was founded in 1989 it was the first Jewish state school to be set up in what had been the Soviet Union.

The school is still the only Jewish school in Latvia.  It joined the ORT network in 2002 and moved to larger premises in 2010 where it provides an essential service to the city’s Jewish community, educating its 380-plus students in general and ICT-based subjects while also instilling in them an understanding and love of Judaism.

The school caters for all ages from elementary to high. It is a state school, in addition to providing education in line with the state curriculum, the school offers advanced study in two tracks: Jewish education and technology education.

The technology study track involves the study of programming, robotics, animations and design. Students and educators actively participate in ORT network programs.
