The 1880 Society, is an elite society for major donors, created in 2004 to celebrate the 125th year of ORT. The 1880 Society represents a crucial step towards ensuring that ORT will continue to be able to provide a world-class education for hundreds of thousands of children and adults throughout the world not just for this generation, but for future generations to come. The 1880 Society, initiated by World ORT, is conducted in full cooperation with all ORT National Organisations throughout the world. Membership and Recognition Members of The 1880 Society stand unique in the history of ORT for their outstanding level of support and commitment to the worlds largest and longest-established Jewish educational organisation. In return World ORT is proud to be able to offer unique and outstanding benefits of membership: An exclusive Bronze, Silver or Gold commemorative medal. These medals were specially commissioned by World ORT and struck by the Israeli Government Coins and Medals Corporation. Each medal features the portraits of ORTs founding fathers on one side, and the name of the Israeli capital, Jerusalem, in 12 languages on the other. An exclusive display-stand to accompany each medal, specially designed for World ORT by the renowned Barukh Shoham. A strictly limited edition hand-bound volume available only to members. Above all, each member is invited to attend exclusive meetings with dignitaries and to participate in special events and exclusive ORT missions. Membership Levels of the Society: Gold Membership and Life Membership of The 1880 Society is granted to those who pledge a minimum contribution of US$500,000. Silver Membership of The 1880 Society is granted to those who pledge a minimum contribution of US$250,000. Bronze Membership of The 1880 Society is granted to those who pledge a minimum contribution of US$100,000. To remain a member of The 1880 Society, renewal of ones Bronze or Silver Membership is required every three years.
