16 June 2005 British ORT has set its sights high with a novel fundraising venture: clay pigeon shooting. More than 60 professionals and businesspeople have signed up for the 250-a-head day at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School on Friday, June 24. Amid the rolling countryside west of London, participants will be taught how to shoot the targets that mimic the flight of game birds such as pheasant and partridge; they will then be divided into teams for prize competitions. Participants will also be treated to a late champagne lunch after the shooting has finished during which they will be presented with information about ORT and its worldwide mission to educate and train people into self-sufficiency. Its been fun to organise a new type of event for British ORT, said corporate lawyer Matthew Lindsay. A lot of people will be coming who wont know about the organisation so it will be a good opportunity to raise awareness among a new section of people. We want it to be a fun day but will ensure that information brochures will be distributed. British ORT Co-Chairman David Woolf will also say a few words during lunch. Mr Lindsay said he was happy with the response to his invitations particularly as the event was organised at short notice but said he aimed to attract 100 people to next years event.
