Israels Minister of Education visits ORT Lipman School, Moscow

10 October 2003 Limor Livnat, Israels Minister of Education, visited Moscow Jewish ORT School No. 1311 (ORT Lipman) on 9th Octoer with a Ministry of Education delegation and representatives of the Jewish Agency. During the visit the guests were given a tour of the schools ORT Technology Centre and laboratories and met with students who use its latest technology. Avi Ganon, Director of ORT Russia, described ORTs wide range of activities in the CIS and Baltic States and announced its development plan to increase ORTs network of students in the CIS and Baltic States by some 30,000 people by 2006. Limor Livnat, Israels Minister of Education, meets staff and students at the ORT Lipman school in Moscow The Lipman School, established in 1991, is one of the largest Jewish schools in Moscow, home to a Jewish community of some 300,000. Students at the school study a standard curriculum, specified by the Russian Ministry of Education, within an Israeli-Jewish environment. The ORT network in the CIS and Baltic States (the former Soviet Union) is considered by the local authorities to include the finest educational establishments available in the region. ORTs schools provide a high quality education and its graduates have a real competitive advantage when seeking higher education and opportunities for employment. Today, ORT has more than 23,000 students in its schools and centres throughout the CIS and Baltic States.
