World ORT Union, in cooperation with the American Jewish JointDistributionCommittee (JDC), has commenced a programme to train local workers inPrizren, Kosovo, as textile machinists to work in the clothing andtextilemanufacturing industry. Premises for use as a vocational training centre for this programme havebeen provided by the owner of a textile factory in Prizren. Equipmentatthe premises which was not in working condition was brought back intoservice after acquiring new parts. Initially, twenty people will be trained with the help of local experts. Itis expected that the trainees will later be employed in the industry.
