13 January 2003 A fully functional state-of-the-art media suite has opened at the ORT Technology Centre in Jewish School 1311 (widely known as the Lipman School) in Moscow. This important educational facility, the first of its kind in the country, is part of World ORTs Regeneration 2000 programme and opens up a new world of opportunities for ORT students at the school. In addition to supplementing media studies, the new media suite will be used for workshops, conferences and student projects. The facilities include a video and narrators studio and a full range of multimedia resources for the study of photography and film production, editing and sound recording. . The inauguration ceremony, which also celebrated the schools 12th anniversary of operations, took place in the presence of representatives of the Israeli Embassy, ORT, the JDC, the Jewish Agency and Moscow school principals. The Regeneration 2000 programme, now in its fourth year, is part of World ORTs strategy to create successful and attractive Jewish schools in the CIS and Baltic States. The programme is built upon delivering high quality education to provide students with a real competitive advantage when seeking higher education and opportunities for employment. The recent launch of a new phase in the programme, called Regeneration 2004, will answer the continuing need for quality education in Jewish communities throughout the region.
